The Extron MTP R 15HD A Mini Twisted Pair Receiver and MTP RL 15HD A Mini Twisted Pair Receiver with Loop Through work with the MTP T 15HD A Transmitter to transmit RGB, component, S-video, or composite video and summed mono audio (L+R) signals long distances over a single unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable. The MTP 15HD A Series can be used with any CAT 5, 5e, or 6 twisted pair cable or with Extron Enhanced Skew-Free¢â A/V UTP cable (patent pending) for cable runs of up to 600 feet (185 meters) with XGA signals or up to 450 feet (135 meters) with UXGA signals.
Extron MTP 15HD A transmitters and receivers precisely optimize image quality for various UTP cable lengths using adjustment controls on both the transmitter and receiver. The transmitters feature a pre-peaking switch that provides additional compensation at the front end for the longest cable runs. The receivers offer continuously variable gain and peaking controls, allowing users to dial in the exact amount of gain and peaking required for each unique cable run.
The Extron MTP R 15HD A Mini Twisted Pair Receiver accepts video and audio signals on a female RJ-45 connector. Video signals are output on a female 15-pin HD connector while up to two identical balanced or unbalanced mono audio signals are output on a 3.5 mm captive screw connector. The MTP R 15HD A receiver features separate continuously variable level and peaking adjustments that enable users to compensate for any signal degradation associated with long cable runs. A set of dip switches on the rear panel make it easy to configure the output signal and output sync formats.
The Extron MTP RL 15HD A Mini Twisted Pair Receiver with Loop Through has all of the same features and functionality as the MTP R 15HD A, with an added female RJ-45 output connector. This additional buffered output enables multiple MTP RL 15HD A receivers to be connected in series, reducing the number of parallel cable runs required.
The MTP 15HD A Series transmitter and receivers are compatible with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 (UXGA) and are ideal for such applications as large training facilities, museums, airports, movie theaters, and hotels. These products are ideal for systems where high resolution video signals must be transmitted long distances to a display, or where space is limited in conduit, or for audio/video systems where cabling might be exposed or visible.
When using data grade twisted pair cable for sending high-resolution video signals long distances, a problem called skew can cause a distortion in the image, resulting in visible color separation. Extron offers two options for solving this problem and restoring image quality. The first option is to place an SEQ 100 15HD Skew Equalizer at the receiving end of any cable run where skew is a problem. The second option is to use Extron's Enhanced Skew-Free¢â A/V UTP cable to make system connections.
Because the MTP 15HD A Series transmitter and receivers utilize UTP cable for the distribution of high resolution RGBHV and audio signals over long distances, they offer considerable advantages in cost, performance, and ease of installation. UTP cable is a fraction of the size of coaxial cable, and much lighter, more flexible, and less expensive, thus providing A/V system designers and installers with an economical, space efficient solution for a variety of applications.
Extron MTP Transmitters and Receivers are part of the VersaTools¢ç family of economical, compact products designed for easy integration into new and existing A/V environments. MTPs are compact so they can fit just about anywhere: in equipment racks, under tables and desktops, or next to a projector.
